External hard drives - The students laptops don't have large hard drives, but processing video, especially HD, takes tons of space. (One student raw video project could easily out-data all other student storage.) I'm not sure how much space will be on the server for their use, or if it'd be better to have some external drives dedicated to that. I can get some numbers if this is seen as a need.
LECTROSONICS WIRLESS HAND HELD OPTION HN PLUG ON TRANSMITTER - 2
MACKIE MCK-1220, 4 CHANNEL AUDIO MIXER - 1
DIGITAL VIDEO MIXER SIM-SFX10 - 1
CABLE SET - 1
FOCUS ENASMENTS DIGITAL RECORDER FS 5100 - 2
ASTATICA HAND HELD MIC - 2
Digital cameras:
I suggest 12 canon powershot SD970’s or the equivalent, with a spare battery (always charged and ready to go) and at least a 2 gig card for each one. 12 means we can have students working and learning together instead of waiting for equipment, which stops student work. Plus we can all share.
Camcorders: If we ever think we may (at some point) be adding mac computers for video editing, we need to make sure that what we buy now will be compatible with both platforms.
Question: are the student laptops (and ours, too…) going to have firewire ports? If that has not been included as part of the package we need to make sure camcorders have ports for firewire for the mac as well as usb for windows. Another BIG consideration is many camcorders do not come with a port to add an external microphone, and a mike will be important! So we need to make sure that the chosen model has a mike port, as well as a headphone port. Condenser microphones with their own power supply work well and we will need those, too. We will also need headphones!
I suggest Canon VIXIA HG20 60GB HDD. No firewire port but I think we can still get footage into a mac. Need to check this out more. How many? 6 would be doable in a class (plus 6 condenser mikes and 6 headphones). 6 also gives us flexibility for multiple classroom usage. Whiteboards' Impact on Teaching Seen as Uneven
While experts see whiteboards as powerful tools for improving instruction, teachers vary widely in their ability to use them effectively.Document Camera:**
